Every article I read or video I watch about how to properly handle a semi-automatic weapon says you shouldn't grip the rifle at the magazine well like that. You grip forward as far down the barrel as possible.
Is that Marine just doing it wrong or is that advice not as great as they claim?
ah...good point, but that's part of my complaint about three gun shooting competitions and actual combat shooting getting mixed up. in three gun you want your hand as far along the barrel as possible so you can get your rifle on target faster. combat shooting means that you've been moving either a long time or sprinting, climbing, slamming into walls etc so you're fighting muscle fatigue while at the same time trying to get on target as fast as possible with the added knowledge that only hits count. with that in mind a more compact shooting profile helps out greatly. additionally you don't want to have a possible enemy grabbing you and your weapon when clearing rooms. if he grabs your rifle you can shoot him off ya, if he grabs you and your rifle then he has control of you both.
