Love how the COL and CPT just LOVE! the new forum while the unnamed enlisted women are calling bullsh*t. This really does help you respect female service members when they are pulled in for training to discuss makeup and coupons while everyone else is in the motor pool turning wrenches.
This is much ado about nothing. Like any mentorship program in the military it isn't perfect and can seem hokey to those looking in from the outside. As a male Soldier I've never lacked for examples of good (and bad) leadership, so I don't begrudge female Soldiers the opportunity to get some time listening to successful female Soldiers who have gone before.
As far as "coupon clipping" goes I would like to note that Army Community Services offers classes on budgeting and saving money to all soldiers. I've sat through a few of those classes myself and even took advantage of a one on one session with a financial counselor to review my income, outgo, and investment plan for retirement. http://www.army.mil/article/88195/ACS_offers_budget__credit_counseling/
Perhaps the battle over women in the military is being lost because the military itself has no f***ing clue what to do with its women?
