Always love the post shooting photos of the police. So many of them are all decked out in tactical gear, and I always wonder how long they took to go put that shit on.
i think it matters on how all this actually plays out and how the department operates. do your paramedics and firefighters deck out for every call? are they going with rifle grade armor or is it the same standard as patrol officers? of course this is all evolving to the point where the difference between a patrol man, firefighter and Marine in a combat zone are going to become irrelevant but we're not quite there yet. additionally i got a note from a EMS that talks about conditions on the street so this is another one of those geez, i just don't know but instincts tell me its a bad thing.
i wonder if they need entire EMS or FD with this or a special unit that can go in if they have reason to believe there is an active shooter? also what about small towns? their fire departments are many times volunteer, and their EMS could be 20+ minutes away, these bastards are smart. reminds me of the quote from the movie speed, the commander calling the bomber crazy not stupid. i agree with you this is a good idea and need to see how it develops but they need to allow flexibility to allow each department to tailor their teams to the needs of their jurisdiction.
