....why do we make videos like this? Ive known about Harm and JSOW for a while, but MALD is new to me (im sure people have know). We make videos like this and now everyone has a idea of whats out there to start working on defeating or making their own version
i guess its part of the perils of capitalism. they build and need to sell weapons. you're on the tip of the spear so you want to keep capabilities secret. i'm in my armchair and love talking about it. i'm happy to learn about these capabilities, you're pissed because capabilities are revealed and someone in China is trying to take notes so he can copy the entire thing.
The MALD concept goes back to the Israelis going in to the bekaa valley in '82, a strike preceded by drones used to get the Syrians to light up their air defences so a video like this isn't betraying anything a peer opponent isn't already training for. Way before that, B52s were equipped with quail decoy drones, they just were never used.
I think what's significant here is not ”giving away" MALD but rather articulating a set of stand off technologies as an alternative to stealth without ever coming out and saying so.
China can copy the look for sure, but not the guts inside those weapons. The guidance system, countermeasure, warhead effectiveness, etc. Those are the things that really matter. Personally, I think JSOW is a poor man's choice for air launched cruise missile. Even powered variant JSOW-ER will not able to match the aerodynamic maneuverability offered by true CMs like SLAM or JASSM, not even mentioning supersonic CM that our potential adversaries are developing/equipping.
they're hacking our computers so they'll have the guts too. Russia has shown that anytime a tech enters China his computer is probably getting read, so they're getting the info. the solution is simple. no high tech business is allowed in China. we're already advancing them beyond their natural evolution and unless we stop they're going to have parity...whether we want it or not.
I think he meant Chinese knockoff parts sliping through military supply chain and infested US made weapons. Chinese are good at reverse engineering. But let's keep our heads cool and not read too much into those online PLA fanboy sources, trying to seperate propaganda and disinformation from hard fact.
before the J-20 showed up, the idea of a stealth Chinese fighter was considered fan boy. same with the idea of the Chinese producing an LPD in the same class as the San Antonio class...same with the idea of the Chinese producing an Aegis type destroyer....so i don't doubt this.
quite honestly the only flights of fancy that "fanboys" have engaged in ...and on this they've stopped posting it" is the mega sized carrier.

DeleteFrom what recent reports say, a lot of the guts of American hardware IS chinese knock off.
Deletereally? seriously? ok. I'll play. send me ONE (1) report that says that US hardware is a clone of Chinese gear that they designed and built.
Deletejust one.
i'll wait patiently.
