High Mobility Multi-Purpose Vehicles worldwide...

I was chasing what I now believe is a mythical amphibious assault vehicle based on the TulPar IFV when I came across the Otokar Ural.  That led me to wonder...while we've been struggling to get a replacement to the Humvee into service, what have our allies and potential foes been doing?

The Brits have put the Ocelot into service...

The Italians have the Iveco LMV (also used by the Brits and Russians)...

The Japanese have Komatsu LAV...

The Russians have the GAZ Tigre...

Meanwhile we can't even get the JLTV into LOW RATE production!  Amazing!

  2. Picture you have post is an otokar cobra mk.II, successor to otokars cobra. Otokar Cobra Mk.II is based of General Motors ECV II chassis.
Otokar Ural is based off Mercedes unimog chassis and it's intended purpose is to be used by internal security forces, thus a light vehicle.

    1. What is the difference between the two? Help files for those who can't figure out the difference rather than a "no"?

    2. Daniel OP has clearly mistaken Ural for Cobra II, a simple google search would of set him straight however he has decided not to heed a polite correction from myself and has accused me of being 'wrong', which is fine.
Here are some official brochures from Otokar,

    1. Thanks Super! I thought the same thing, where's the French Panhard VBL?

I always liked the design. Not sure if the short length version is this in production, I think they are only producing the longer version but I could be wrong.
