LAV-ATs test modernization upgrades

A Light Armored Vehicle Anti-Tank prototype is given a swim test at the Amphibious Vehicle Test Branch at Camp Pendleton, Calif. LAV-ATs are in the midst of developmental tests as part of their modernization program at various sites throughout the country.

  1. Did you know that the LAV is not only amphibious but it can also be airdroped?...The US Army test them in the 1980s but congress didnt aprove funding for it...

    1. well aware. not impressed by it though. air transport wll never be able to deliver enough vehicles at distance to make the idea of airborne armor appealing. logistics alone will render it a non-factor

  2. Didnt they just adopt the same turret as the Striker?

    1. the exact same one. they're making this harder than it has to be. the Army did the work, just harvest their results and roll with it.

      but don't get me wrong. i'm happy to see the Marine Corps falling in on Army gear when it works.
