When I first saw the T26E4 Super Pershing on World of Tanks I thought ... "yeah right!!! that's just some vapor ware the game designers pulled out of their ass"....
I was wrong.
This thing actually existed and is probably the best example of hillbilly engineering to come out of WW2 (well a close second to the upgunned LVTs).
Read about this blast from the past here.
Almost all of the WoT vehicles are real. I can't remember any more 'fake' ones except the WT E-100, GW E-100, GW Tiger (P) and the 'prototype' T28 (this one's based on an early concept drawing of the T28, the others are WG's imagination)
ReplyDeleteThere's also the VK7201, T25/2 AT, T28 prototype, and FV215b.
DeleteActually the T25/2 AT is real, the T25 AT is not. There was actually a medium tank prototype by the name of T25 before the T26. Wargaming just decided to make it a tank destroyer just like they made the t30 a tank destroyer.
DeleteSpeaking of which, don't forget the T110E3, ah hell there are too many fictional tanks in WoT. One of the reasons I quit playing it
yeah, i don't quite get that. i look at the russian tank line, the brits etc...and they're pretty solid. take a look at the US line and except for the T57 heavy, you just have variations on themes. we had a very vibrant tank development program during the 50's and 60's so they don't have to do that.
