What is the medical protection plan for our forces in Africa?

via CNN
CNN) -- An outbreak of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in West Africa has spread to Guinea's capital and beyond its borders in an "unprecedented epidemic," a leading aid agency reported Monday.
A total of 122 patients are suspected of contracting Ebola and 78 have died, Doctors Without Borders said. Most victims have been in Guinea, but the World Health Organization reported Sunday that two deaths in Sierra Leone and one in Liberia are suspected to have been used by the Ebola virus.
We have forces throughout Africa at this moment, Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen AND Reservist.... This story is going under reported but the outbreaks seem to be gaining speed... Canada even had an Ebola scare.

The questions must be asked.

Is Navy medicine on this?  Are the Corpsmen assigned to our units aware of the possible dangers with this disease?

  1. There are two levels to this sort of thing. The higher up are certainly aware, and *should* be up to date if they read their emails. They all get civilian reports from CDC, WHO, etc. in addition to military reports. The real question is: have they communicated a plan of action to providers in the field?

    1. i'm sure Africom knows but they don't have a thing up talking about it. but even more importantly its up to the individual service chiefs to provide troops that are capable of carrying out assigned missions. if Ebola is now part of the mix then you have some real bad stuff possible.

  3. Scuttlebutt has it a passenger aboard Flight MH-370 was found infected with Ebola Z. and the Powers that be had the aircraft sent to the remotest part available to halt the spread.
Rumor says a Chinese who had been in Africa contracted this after eating Bat Soup, Chinese do have strange taste in food it takes three weeks to incubate and the on set of the terminal phase is sudden and quite bloody.
WARNING: Conspiracy theory, rumor and scuttlebutt alert!
