China's internal terrorist strike again...

via NBC29...
BEIJING (AP) - Authorities called Sunday for anyone involved in terrorist activities in China's restive northwest to turn themselves in and promised leniency following a deadly bombing.
The announcement followed a security crackdown launched over the weekend in response to the Thursday attack at a morning street market, which killed at least 43 people and wounded dozens.
The official Xinhua News Agency said an anti-terrorism campaign in the northwest Xinjiang region will target religious extremist groups, underground gun workshops and "terrorist training camps." The report added that "terrorists and extremists will be hunted down and punished."
Police have revealed the names of five people blamed for the attack and said they were part of a "terrorist gang." Based on their names, all the suspects appeared to be Uighurs, the region's most populous Muslim minority. Police said that four of the assailants were killed in the bombing and that the fifth was captured Thursday night.
This is telling.

Chinese Muslims are continuing the fight against one of the most advanced nations on the planet.

Additionally, the Chinese govt appears unable to put down the insurrection.

It really is a shame that China is hellbent on subduing the entire Pacific region.  The dream of the Neo-Cons of a worldwide war on terrorism uniting Russia, China, the US and the rest of the free world could easily have been a reality.....as it stands that dream is in an alternate reality.

What I would love to know but can't find out is this.  How big a problem is "internal terrorism" for the Chinese.

Sidenote:  I wonder what leniency is when it comes to the Chinese justice system.  Does that mean life in prison instead of the death penalty?

  1. For a while there was co-op with Russia on terrorism issues at least. It wasn't a hugh co-op but it was heading in a right direction. But Obama kinda fucked that on up. The FBI didn't help either trying to blame the Russians instead of their own incompetent asses.

Google: FBI boston bombing russia fault.

    1. It's a bit more complex. The bombers have a background in Chechnya, where the US has supported an Islamist separatist movement against Russia. --Similar to the Xinjiang situation, and Syria for that matter, and Afghanistan before that.

  2. Solomon shows his ignorance as always. These aren't "Chinese terrorists", but Uyghur freedom fighters who are trying to regain independence of their country currently occupied by China.

They were no different from the Mujahideen battling the Soviet troops back in the 80s.

    2. Solomon

You should care about the internal politics of China, because an internally troubled China is weaker than a internally unified China.

You bet the CIA is providing material and financial support to Uyghur freedom fighters.

    4. Slowman, you are wrong, and I'll tell you why.

As humans we are all ignorant of many things, or in fact most things.
We don't however engage in blogging to have somebody act superior and become accusatory about somebody not knowing something and call it ignorance and then even go stupidly beyond that by saying "as always."
      That's ignorant behavior.

We engage in blogging, I do anyhow, to learn, to become less ignorant, and to share what we know in the general interest. That's what we do.

On this posting, I didn't realize the depth of US involvement with the Uighurs until I researched it today, thanks to Solomon's posting it.
So now I'm less ignorant on the subject, and I trust other readers are also.
That includes you, Slowman, who mislabeled these terrorists freedom fighters.
And it's not the first time you've been wrong -- the Senkakus come to mind.
Nobody called you ignorant, did they.

It's a great day when we can learn one important fact.
So open up your mind and learn something, Slowman.
Or get your own damned blog, and learn how imperfect you are.

    5. One thing though........One Man's terrorist is another Man's Freedom Fighter. And Vice Versa. Depends on what side you are on. By the way, Pardon my IGNORANCE on this, but does the UN have a definition on Terrorist ?......and If so how many signatory countries have actually agreed to it ?

    6. My experience with this shows that Govt.s all over the world usually agree to the definition of such UN declarations. But when it comes to amending their own police laws and legal procedures to incorporate such UN definitions, they almost always tweak the meaning of a word or sentence or a particular point for their own local benefit. A definition always consists of key words. Those key words usually have an attached seperate mention. And it is these key words that are usually tweaked. So even though Pakistan may follow the same definition of Terrorist as the US, they wont apply it uniformly. Or any country for that matter. The most common example of this is the Right to Vote. Most Democracies follow........"One can Vote on Reaching Majority"...................Key Word here....Majority- 18 years here in India, 21 years in some other country. Same Defnition, different result.

  3. Xinjiang Uyghur separatists/terrorists in previous times, when Russia and China were enemies, were supported by Russia. Now they are supported by the U.S., as a way to cause problems for China.
