The Chinese military is increasing it urban combat training. Quite honestly it makes sense. The Pacific region has some of the worlds largest cities. If war comes to the area then fierce urban combat will be part of it. Pics below via the Chinese internet.
while you don't really have any ability to take a hit...it has to be alot less taxing on the body to do MOUT with just a helmet and ammo.

yeah but its going to be the end of big armies cause the suits will cost so much. we might have a military thats just composed of US power suits versus a world filled with traditional soldiers.

You could take a hint from the game HALO and the Spartans in it. Grunts are not antiquated, but in a lot of cases support for the Spartan in the Moljinar armor suits.

DeleteBut yeah, power armors or exo's will be expensive in both production and maintenance. with time price will drop and every soldier will get one but we need to jump really ahead in terms of weapons fabrications and materials tech. For now, there will be some elite formations equip with them, special squads of professional operators. Rest... well, as the Sol said typical grunts and support units.
yes yes yes, i know everyone here is just aaaaamzzzed by that kevin spacey COD video out there with the anti-gravity boots, the mech suits, the wall crawl hands and the lot. But there is no way those suits are gonna be a reality any time soon. Even for Spec-Ops Elites. The amount of energy those suits demand constantly is just amazing. And they need that energy just to balance themselves. Think of it as a cars electronic traction control/ABS system coupled with mechanical parts when actually working continously on a fast rally track and under constant braking and drifting. We humans are lucky that god/evolution gave us interesting bio-mechanics that allow us to balance in almost every stance without thinking. Machines actually need to think all that, and need actuall physical moving parts and weights and counter weights to constantly move and adjust based on that thinking. Even if a Mech Suit/Exo-skeletan suit comes up, our current battery technology and the battery technology for the forseallble future just wont be able to power them up for a duration longer than 2 mins. And then again, all that weight and space that should have gone to guns, armor and ammo will then go to batteries........hazardous, flamable, heavy batteries.

I bet when they equip Chinese formations for Tibetan Combat, they will go extra heavy on Fire Extinguishers and blankets to put out the nuisance value of those flaming buddhist monks. There has been one poor sod self immolating almost every month now. And those are just the ones whose info got leaked to the western world.

As with most pictures release officially by China, they look like propoganda pics. I only see 2 out of focus pics of the opposing force "Blue Helmet" soldiers and what they are equiped with apart from the QBZ rifle.
DeleteA couple of decades from now, Chinas' population is probably going to implode due to the systemic failure to identify Vajayjay as a critical national resource (One child policy). Unfortunately, I'm thinking that someone is probably going to get stomped on between now and then. Hopefully NK will collapse, China will get dragged into a peacekeeping/stability mission that willl turn into a complete Clusterscrew. If we're really really really luck, we will be smart enough to stay behind the DMZ and point and laugh.

ReplyDeleteAlso, if NK collapse, it will be a coordinated affair by China, Russia, SK & US. But right now, it is not in the interest of either US, SK or China, Russia for that to happen, nobody's economy can handle the integration of NK into SK, even SK youths are not interested in unification, & the old generation are passing on.
I understand the difference between People's Armed Police and People's Liberation Army, but both those forces come under the your Centralized Defence Ministry or whatever technical name it goes by in China. Unlike other countries where police forces and military forces are governed by seperate ministries or departments with seperate budgets and political/bureuacratic leadership and completely different outlooks and goals. Here, the chinese centralizrd defence ministry weds civilian population control with fighting off foreign aggresors inside the same leadership/bureuacratic structure and budget. Thats where things get murky for a whole lot of reasons.
ReplyDeleteThe whole world is full of examples of governments who have.............unsuccessfuly tried to accomplish both objectives (Civilian/battlefield domination) through one single force/department. Take a look at all those south american countries, african/middle eastern countries where they made the military supreme or dual use. You do that and then suddenly everyone starts looking like your enemy. Your citizens, your political allies, foreignners, opposition parties, other govt. ministries/departments and sooner than you know it.....a couple of guys dismount from a BMP and shoot you in the face while attending a military parade. Or a tank just smashes through your gate.
