Everyone is upset and agitating over the kidnapped girls in Nigeria.
Ok, fair enough.
But what about the 50 boys that were burned alive along with their teachers? What about the killing of over 300 shoppers by this same group?
This is a foreign policy failure that can't be solved by hash-tags on Twitter. The very idea is STUPID beyond description. Christians are being attacked by Muslims in Nigeria and no one is calling it for what it is. The Nigerians have allowed a homegrown insurgency to flourish without contesting it and now its flaring out of control.
Africa is the new home for AQ and we have a decision to make.
Do we continue to play global whack-a-mole or do we decide that its not worth the effort?
If we act I can understand it (I would recommend sending Special Forces A-Teams and not conventional forces or even SEALs/MARSOC...this is an insurgency, not a raid type situation which means building up the local forces) but we need to do so because we're clear headed about it. Not propelled by a social movement that will be on to the next hot thing in a couple of weeks.
Kim Du Toit, an African born white stated this, In any conflict or action Africa always wins.
ReplyDeleteThe climate, terrain, distance and animals life are more dangerous than any human enemy, frankly the land itself will win any conflict.
Disease, insects and bad water will make the tribal wars seem Tame.
Never, ever forget Those 1300 British regulars killed at Isandlwana.
In any event Africa always wins.
It may come to us to go but I'd pass if it was me, Al Queerda deserves what Africa can dish out and like everyone else who has fell into that trap will get what they deserve, Africa.
i agree 100%~! we don't want any part of this mess. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY AMERICAN SERVICEMAN dragged through the streets of some dirty backwater city only to be hacked up. NOTHING THERE IS WORTH EVEN ONE AMERICAN LIFE!
Deleteis that harsh? maybe. is it the truth? YES!
There are certainly things in Nigeria worth a life, American or otherwise, something needs to be done to kill off the insurgency although I hope Africa will be able to lose it's dependence on the west for support.
Deleteno. the Nigerians need to step up and solve their own problems.
Deletepersonally i am tired of the US always being called on to solve other peoples problems. Team America, world police needs to stop. US treasure, both lives and money, are in my opinion too VALUABLE to be wasted on countries that do not do their own hardwork to solve problems that DO NOT directly affect us.
I agree; while it's a sad story there is nothing in that country worth 1 American life. They shit the bed now it's time for them to clean it up.
DeleteAs long as countries like Nigeria (and other contributing countries) form the bulk of African Security Forces operating under a UN/US/EU mandate and as long as the Nigerian Delta holds oil, you will have to do something....if not everything to help them in their internal security.
DeleteThe last time hostages were taken in Africa.....it was Kenya and that resulted in Kenya participating in a Big way to AMISOM in Somalia.
DeleteNice picture above Sol!
ReplyDeleteit just sings to me. i've been critical of the guys that went out to the Bundy Ranch but one thing i noted but didn't post about is the fact that NOT ONE OF THEM wore something to hide their faces. not a one.
Deletethat alone is impressive....i still don't have the thought process on why so many law enforcement does. yeah i headed off on a tangent but that is a key for me now.
when militias show up wearing face "protectors" thats when we know trouble is about to start.
I was watching the national news coverage of how this #BringBackOurGirls hashtag is sweeping the world. They make it sound like if something gets enough retweets then these savages will return the girls? WTF are they thinking? These animals don't give two shits about Twitter or any other social media. They live by the law of the gun, and violence is the only language they understand.
ReplyDeletePeople can hashtag til their fingers fall off but until someone shows up with lead and gunpowder nothing is going to change.
BTW, it needs to be Nigerians who rescue these girls. If the US tries to help we're destined to fail. Either some of our guys will die or some of the girls will die, both of which will be detrimental to us as country.
I struggle to find any pressing national interest that warrants our support for this...other than the fact that Boko Haram has neither advanced SAMs or Russian backing...
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be their new plan for the US also. The Feds are putting tons of money into teaching local law enforcement active shooter training to try and combat this, but if they are there just to start killing kids right away many will be dead before the first phone call is made. The classes taught are also pushing for carbines due to the fact many of the terrorist groups have been found to be using body armor during their school and daycare raids.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the people calling loudest for the US to "do something" are the same as those who want women in front line combat?
