No doubt H&K's sales position is partly due to it's history (Mauser/Nazis) and geographic origin (Germany/Europe). In the end, it's a free market economy and if they don't wan't to sell certain guns to civvies, that's their prerogative. It's not like other gunmakers mind filling that void.
I disagree its just that they are doing something new while manufacturers in US seem to be stuck masturbating ither Ar15 or 1911 no mater their legarcy , even stronger are other Euro manufacturers with no long firearms tradition like Glock or HS(Springfield XD series).
H&K isn't doing shit new. they're following behind the others and have lost market share because they're so damn stubborn. HK416 (the civilian model)? they could have sold millions. instead they waited and acted too good and now they can't break into the market because they're over priced.
their entire line of pistols? people would love to get them. why not? because they priced themselves out of the market! they can't even get police depts to buy the guns because they're too arrogant to give even them special pricing!!!!
H&K are some arrogant pricks.
that's the long and short of it. oh and Glock wouldn't be in business except for US sales to civilians and they have a plant making more guns in Georgia (the US state) than they do for the rest of the world.
HK are more into mil/gov/le markets but that is the case for most Euro manufacturers when they develop guns is duty first civilian sales come only later on some time years after
I agree US market keeps things going but oddly enough US manufacturers are limping behind Euro competititors ,that have to jump some hurdles too even get onto the US market
I wonder if CZ Bren from the Cech Republic has set up shop in the states. Their stuff is pretty decent too. On my wish list of guns to own, in order of priority..... 1. Tavor 2. CZ Bren 805 4. HK M416 5. Galil

5. Galil
and i personnaly own an old Llama.
DeleteI'd take a Glock over an H&K not because of quality just because of like. Then again I'd take a S&W M-66 in six inch barrel over either one.
