Targeting children... this is against basic human instincts, the ones so deeply existing in us from the start of human race. What's wrong with the people who are reject this and start killing the ones we were almost programmed to protect with our own life?
Can we call those "things" a humans? Or they are just "something" that should be eliminated from race? No advocates, no prisons, no rights... just shoot them like rabid animals and burn the bodies. This is the dark side of our race that need to be eliminated no mater the cost.
It's kind of scary how many terrorists are now somehow acquiring military training and applying special forces type tactics in their attacks. When they mix it with improvised explosive weapons like pressure bombs, things just get messy.
What I'm more worried about though is that if one of these attacks comes to the US, our government will respond by taking away more liberties and adding more regulations to American citizens, which will give more corrupt politicians to power they need to enforce their agendas on American citizens.
i don't think that will work. everyone points to the British or Australian example but i know for a fact that Americans will not turn in their weapons.
all they'll do is succeed in creating a huge blackmarket.
After the Newton massacre, some of the most popular ads in gun mags, catalogs, etc. were for 'underground storage', i.e. plastic containers you could bury. With GPS and storage containers, people will be burying their prized possessions based in part on the fact they won't let what happened in Australia occur.
I would be more worried about the reaction of the broad public in the US in terms of not being mentally ready for what a mass terrorist attack might confront them with ... Let's be honest, it would be uglier than 9/11 because of the graphic nature of what would happen on the ground and all the TV networks, from local to national, trying to get the best pictures possible. The control of the "media event" should be more a priority for government agencies (doesnt mean cesnroship) because it will be a greater vitory for the terrorists if the whole world can see what they have done... not so much if you can't see the images. Regarding the "mental toughness", i also think the public needs to be better prepared for it, i.e. people need to harden the f* up, there's a bunch of people out there who are at war with the West and they won't back off unless we make them. Thing is, they need to get lucky only once to carry through a deadly attack, we need to foil their plots each and every time, or it looks like we have failed. That way we look at success and failure in that war against terrorists is problematic, because you gonna suffer losses in any type of war, you have to be aware of it before it happens.
The fact that the media gets stuck in a feedback loop after terrorist attacks means it plays right into the attackers agenda of inflicting terror upon the most amount of people as possible.
The Scary thing is that now that people know, and not just suspect, that their electric communications are monitored, it means terrorists cells can do their communication totally in the black. And all it would take is a five person cells to inflict hundreds of casualties.
And because the people who own and operate shopping malls are too cheap to make them secure, it will likely be a mall. Terrorists could choose a school, but it wouldn't take long before school districts started to pass levies for armed security and systems.
Malls, however, are owned by cheap bastards and they won't spend a penny unless forced to do so. I live near the Mall of America and that place, in spite of the small police substation located on premises, is soft as a marshmallow. Scads of rent-a-cops with flashlights and pepper spray, but that's for shoplifters and hoodlums, not trained killers.
A terrorist cell could blow up the substation, then run free for five to ten minutes until other cops showed up. A few well-placed bombs near the entry-exits could stall the cops from entering.

It's going to happen here.
