  1. OOOHHRRRaaa!
    That Motivates me!
When I went down with my Dad to the USMC recruiter the poster I saw was "WE DON'T PROMISE YOU A ROSE GARDEN" with a D. I. in a Campaign hat looking fiercely at a tall boot.
My forming D. I. looked like the young version of actor Woody Strode in the movie Sgt Rutledge, I'll never forget all six feet and five inches of lean mean fighting Marine looking DOWN at my grabastic pile of civilian shit, asking me if I was looking for my Dress Blues or a Rose garden!
I screamed, "DRESS BLUES SIR!" He allowed me to try.

  2. I remember a similar poster from the 80's era, hanging in my room with many others. Moto! Now... do we see this anymore?

I was just down at Pendleton, watching my buddy pin on Gunny. There's still a few hard chargers. His First Sgt. is a cool dude, Co. CO and Bn. CO are good guys too. But there's a definite difference in the young ones.

    1. Later, I commented that it was unfortunate his promotion warrant was signed by Amos... Every single person that heard my comment and/or stood near by, made a gritty war face in agreement... enough said.

    2. i totally believe it. everyone can see the mess that Amos has made, but worse he put in place a bunch of non-hackers, freaks and fairies that will need to be culled from the thundering herd that is the USMC! i love the idea that a few war horses are still around that can see the truth.

YOU JUST GAVE ME HOPE FOR THE FUTURE!

    3. That's SGT MAJ Capper in that poster. Not sure when in his career it was produced, I believe when he was Anglico? Had that poster on my wall and was one that motivated me to join in 91. As it turned out, he was the battalion Sgt Maj when I reported for duty at 2nd Bn 10th marines in Camp Lejeune. It's a shame a feisty LT messed up his career!! Everyone always said he was going to be SGT MAJ of the corps one day.......was just a tough as that photo shows. Wore us out weekly!!
