First, there was the Lada Niva. Which was known as the Sport in Iceland, the Taiga in Western Europe and the Bushman in Australia. Then, the Russians renamed it simply to 4x4. Now, it's time for the Lada 4x4 Urban. Are you ready for so much excitement?I've seen vids with these little beasts going through stuff that would bog down many other vehicles.
Unlike the Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen and the Lada Niva are here to stay. But since the Russians don't really have the sort of technology the Germans use to keep the G-Wagen fresh, AvtoVAZ had to make due with a very modest facelift.
I'd love to get my hands on one!
Ive driven a lada niva on work previously and what can i say the only good thing is that they are cheap a new one cost about 10.000$ and the spare parts are very cheap.
ReplyDeleteBut other than that ... Its not worth it after you pass like 70.000 km on rough terrain they start to break down
Not tk mention the fuel consumption its over 12 liters for 100km ( in the winter its like 14 or 16 liters on 100 km ) and that for a 75 h.p. 1.7 l petrol engine...
Super vehicle. They used to have a bit of cult following here about 20 or so years ago. A fettler's wagon if there ever was one. A favourite mod was to drop the Fiat 2ltr OHC engine into them. A bit rough around the edges but an honest motor.

Noone takes that small 4X4 tag away from the Skoda Yeti.
