I was making a spin through the internet early this morning and ran across the above photo.
A Google search showed what I originally thought was a guy, but turns out to be a woman being held by Russian Separatists.
More to come. Below is a video of one of her interrogations.
Sidenote: I could be completely misreading this whole thing. Google translate is really dropping the ball on this and I hadn't heard anything about it before now. If you have better info send it downrange asap.
Nadija Sawczenko is 33 years old Ukrainian Su-25 pilot, the only one female that fly it in Ukrainian Air Force. She was serving in Iraq with Ukrainian contingent and was a "hero" of documentary movie, that's why she is better know by people of Ukraine. She was with land forces in Lugansk where she help in evacuation of wounded military personnel. In 18th June she was captured by separatist and accused of directing the mortar fire that wounded two Russian journalists, one died on place and second on operational table. They said she is held hostage in Donetsk and the leaders of separatist were ready to exchange her for some own captured. That was the word of her sister.
ReplyDeleteRussian journalist NikoĊaj Warsegow from "Komsomolskiej Prawdy" take that interview, he as some other Russian journalist are accused by international journalist for practicing something they call "interview in form of interrogation". Her actual situation is unknown.
But maybe with new finally working offensive Ukrainian forces will be able to liberate her, Sloviansk had fallen and separatist run from the city to the east. Army columns are moving in to next target, Kramatorsk, also the HQ of separatist in Artemiwsk had been destroyed. We shall see if Ukrainians start to act like armed forces or this is only some minor victory.
If anyone wonder, yes... even the Russian official media confirm that news.
If by run you mean tactically withdraw by breaking through enemies line and with ease without suffering almost any losses along with their heavy equipment. Leaving yet another area for the Kiev "army" to secure that's already short of men. That are starving and deserting by dozens every day along with being bled to death. Is a good move. Separatist coming all together now which means soon they are going to go on a offensive. A long with even Kiev's controlled media finally drew a line and now starting to call BS on things. Like the supposed terrorist are the once that shelling cities. Things are finally starting to get interesting.

If Robert thinks that this said man who are leading own forces in to tactical withdraw and prepare offensive, well... good for you.
Separatist also said that Ukrainian army have a superior numerical advantage over them in men and heavy equipment. The desertion and starving, that interesting info. Especially that Ukrainian army that is "starving and full of deserters" recapture already 4 large city's, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka. And separatist are still in that "tactical withdraw" without any type of significant resistance.
We will see how this will end.
Separatist are divided hence the superior numbers and now have converge on to two areas. While Kiev forces are further stretched. As far as no resistances well... They left some to tied some Kiev forces down.

Donetsk, July 6 - RIA Novosti. Ukrainian army resumed shelling Sloviansk suburbs, from which the previous morning left main militia force, RIA Novosti reported by local residents.
Representatives militia previously stated that in the cities of Slovianks and Kramators'k left a small garrison of militia, which must be resisted forces antiterrorist operation. According to some reports, commander of the garrison - militiaman with the callsign "Rex." ~
Some recapture mate. Seps gave them away tactically though left a little presents and they still struggle.
And do please contest the shape of the Kievs forces ! I'd love you to try that. Though situation might have improved seeing polish helmets, body armor and weapons used by Kievs forces. No doubt getting some food also in that case.

The food is not the problem, the ammo is not the problem, they have that in large numbers. The main problem of Ukrainian army was the low quality of not only ordinary soldiers but officers corp. Lack of solid strategy, lack of a fraking plan! We all saw how poor show they give against pro-russians for most of the time.

Like i said this might have changed a for the better overall. since it's obvious Kiev is getting support in arms. And there is support by the Americans financially. ..even if it's a small sum and likely disaperese into not intended pockets since well Ukraine makes Russia, Greece, Italy and most of EE look totally not corrupt.
Oh believe me Robert, in case of corruption Russia is on the first place. My company work with both Ukrainians and Russians, the both a corruption level of own class but from my experience the Russian one is a little larger. Most of the things in both country's you can do "under the table", Russians in most cases just want more cash.
DeleteSol, let me tell to you one thing, earlier the leader of "rebels" Strelkov stated that the city of Slovyansk would be a new Stalingrad, when the ukraine army would enter into the city, it will be under cross-fire from each window and cellar. People of Slavyansk would fight against fascists and bla-bla-bla. What we can see. The army approaches to the city and a column of "Separatists" gets off from Slavyansk as soon as it can. I know you think this war is civilian however I don't agree with you. So, then a part of the column was hit by an airstrike. Rebels called it like "a tactical withdrawal".
DeleteShas, to have food and ammo is a nice thing of course. Any modern army need to have modern weapons though. The army of Ukraine degraded for a long time but now the situation is getting better because of last events.
DeleteA little correction, there was not an airstrike, there was a firefight. I don't find anymore the information about an airstrike I have seen recently.
DeleteYesterday information - contact with the kidnappers girl lost in the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said they do not know where the prisoner. She has 17 days in captivity.

ReplyDeleteWell, we now know where she is... prison in the city of Voronezh (200km from Moscow), she was clearly kidnapped by Russians and now she is waiting for the trial. She is accused of contribution of death of two Russian journalists.
