Great pics! I notice an amphib ship in the background, perhaps a half mile or so offshore. I take it this exercise was not a landing practice given that Navy doctrine calls for 25 miles or more. If they were just practicing separation from the ship and arrival at the beach then the distance doesn't matter. Any idea what the purpose was? I apologize, I'm not that familiar with the types of Marine exercises.
Do the Marines practice the full 25+ mile landings?
A Marine Corps Amphib Landing and lots of pictures........Solomon's day is made.
ReplyDeleteYep, with additional armor as well.

Love the photos you constantly find. Great stuff!
This can't be right -- ComNavOps at Navy Matters said the Marines wouldn't do this any more. I suspect PhotoShop. /s
