Gun grabbers are going crazy over this video.
Personally, I think this is an example of bad instruction. I won't delve into it further but its crawl, walk, then run. Not crawl and run.
This is going to be the next flashpoint for the gun rights debate. The ATF is investigating this incident when THERE IS NO reason for them to do so. It is an accidental homicide that is handled at the local level...maybe state if there are questions about the investigation.

Congruent with your crawl, walk, run progression - I wouldn't teach a 9 yo to use an automatic weapon. For a novice passing through on the road, small caliber rifle would be all I'd allow. Sadly, I think this was just irresponsible. More sadly, a man is now dead and a poor little girl will likely carry that with her for the rest of her life. And I certainly agree on the other angle, that big gov't has no role here. This is a local tragic accident (with maybe adult negligence or stupidity involved), and local agencies can certainly open and shut the case.
ReplyDeletewell i ddin't want to go their but thats why they have youth model rifles. a 22 caliber cute little pink rifle is what she should have been learning on. i don't know if i'd want to teach many adults how to fire an UZI.
Deletebut you're seeing the stupid side of the gun culture. i put this in the same category as the open carry zealots that refuse to admit that they're actually hurting the cause. the AR-15 morons that decide they want to carry into StarBucks and Target.
the morons that are actually bleeding people dry by selling them gear they'll never use, don't have a use for and is taking money away from the ignorant when they would be better served to spend that money on ammo for more practice.

Puting a full auto Uzi (is that legal even in the States?) in the hands of a 9-years girl is so wrong on so many levels...the guy doesn't even help her, before she pull the trigger, to hold correctly the bullet sprayer... and now he's dead and she is maybe scarred for life...
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa teach me how to use a gun when I was 14 and that was a .22 small carbine with no recoil at all.
There is nothing wrong with guns, they are just a tool, but the users can be very dangerous.

ReplyDeleteOne thing i am concerned about in many is people have a right to bear arms but they also have a responsibility to ensure they are used with care and give the weapon the respect it deserves. being raised around guns with my dad former military and law enforcement (was military then law enforcement when i was a kid though) my dad showed us his guns (only a few, he had his 9mm service weapon, a .380, and a revolver thats a family heriloom). My dad was never away from us when holding them, we were taught never to point at anyone even if no magazine in or round in chamber. We were taken to shoot at the range (we used the .380) but again he was right there with us, showing us how to handle it and things. Main thing he taught us is this is a weapon that whos main purpose is to kill (i know it can be used for sport) but he were given a healthy respect for the power of the weapon and knowing its purpose. I look to my dad is how you teach your kids about guns and how people should be taught about guns, you have a right to have them but considering the great harm they can do, you must respect it. Although we also knew it was that gun along with his vest, his fellow officers or soldiers that made sure he came home.
