  1. I just want to know if drone pilots are eligible to get "Top Hook" award for a cruise.

    1. I wanna know the price point! this could save the US NAVY's ship building program. amphibious shipping too! what is the price of a fully decked out X-47?

    2. Only if F-35C acquisition is cancelled. Otherwise, it's the 4th tactical strike platform to support. A good argument could be make to transition the CVW to three Super Hornet squadrons and one UCLASS squadron, with an additional det to support ISR/tanking duties.

    3. Let me get this straight ... these pictures came out of the official (and officially sanctioned) Chinese news agency?

      AMAZING!

  2. What are all the little dots and stuff on the F-18 in the first picture?

    1. This isn't a technical explanation, but it helps when they analyze video/pics of the drone flying w/the F-18. You'll see those tots on test airplanes and such. The pic of an F-35 dropping a JDAM shows the same dots on the plane and the bomb.

  3. The Advanced Super Hornet or at least many of it's features systems (EWP, CFT, IRST) will be operational and at sea on a carrier with a XB-47s long before the F-35.

  4. "Beats F-35C to sea!" Why would an un-manned flight demonstrator that will never enter production, beating a fully manned and man rated aircraft to sea, surprised you?

    1. maybe because the F-35C has been in fucking development for over 10 goddamn years and all i hear are shitty excuses from clowns like you.

    2. the F35C for all its technology still has the manned component to operate in a very precise manner on a flight deck, take off and land, an unmanned aircraft isnt in itself a huge advance but the fact that an unmanned aircraft can take off, conduct a mission and return and land on the flight deck of a carrier (one of the hardest jobs in the military from what i hear) all without human intervention is a huge technological leap forward and for this weapon system to work in concert with manned systems is an even better sign, its progressing towards operations quite quick.
