    1. Remember that he is a "Tanker" and is used to popping other tanks with the M1A1's 120mm main gun.

  3. Anyone have any thoughts on how this compares to the CT40 the French and British are developing?

    1. i was wondering the same thing. i don't know enough about the performance of the 40 but have to wonder if the extra juice it gives in performance is worth the squeeze.

    2. Why is the Army so behind the times? 30mm would be the minimum increase.

Many are going to 35mm and 40mm for range, lethality, etc. Why upgrade to something that is on low-end of the acceptable premium calibers?

and yes, the size of the turret makes the Bradly into a tracked barn

    3. Im actually surprised that they didn't have the CT40 mounted in it, as I thought the US military was invested in that too.

I bet its the Mk44 bushmaster II, being just a upgunned derivative. Nothing substantial and supposedly was supposed to be the autocannon on the failed EFV.

    4. XM813 is the enhanced version of Mk44, with a longer barrel and improved recoil system. At one time, the Army was considering Apache’s M230 chain gun. It uses lighter weight 30x113mm ammo instead of the standard 30x173mm. It would be even weaker. ATK claims XM813 can be up-gunned to 40mm with only 5 parts replacement. The Army however doesn't seem to be interested. The next caliber on the medium cal. weapon road map is the 50mm Bushmaster III, skipping 40mm altogether.

  4. am no armor expert but Bradley is nice, high target already. Would say that with this barn door turret things are not improving...
