The Ministry of Defence is set to sign a £3.5bn deal for nearly 600 new armoured vehicles ahead of the Nato summit in Wales.Does anyone notice how jobs are being tied directly to defense spending?
The MoD will sign the order for 589 Scout Specialist Vehicles at General Dynamics in Caerphilly county.
David Cameron said the deal would aid UK security and "underpin" many jobs.
At the two-day summit in Newport, due to start on Thursday, the UK will call for increased defence spending by some of Nato's 28 member states.
Mr Cameron said the Scout deal would be the Army's largest single order for armoured vehicles for more than 30 years.
"These new vehicles are testament to the world-class engineering skills in south Wales and across the UK, helping to create the Army's first fully digitalised armoured vehicles," he said.
"Not only will they be crucial in helping to keep Britain safe, they will also underpin nearly 1,300 jobs across the UK and showcase the strength of the UK's highly skilled defence sector."
About UK. I don't know if you saw this, or already posted this, but I just watched it and I'm really, really pissed of with this shit.

off topic much?
DeleteAs far as I know, this blog belongs to Solomon...
DeleteIn chaotic and confusing times, people are forced to make changes and it makes them fearful, resentful which then makes them angry. And along comes an ideology with black and white moral codes that makes it easy to explain the world's problems if you follow the code. No deliberation or complicated decisions, no gray areas, just default to oversimplified moralism.
DeleteYep. It is a bit like looking after a class of 30 kids. 25 kids all come from the same background and hold similar views. 4 of the kids come from different backgrounds to the first 25 but try to get along with the 25 as the latter are the majority. The 25 accept the 4 and everybody swims along. Well they would do if it wasn't for the remaining 1 who for some reason only known to our elites has to be held on equal footing with the 25 and at times even come first. That is Islam in the UK; 1 in 30 of the population. Now a good number want a quiet life and to get on but amongst them is growing significant minority who know our political classes will bend over backwards to save them from offence. Why I don't know.......
ReplyDeleteSorry when did this go from a military blog to a political forum?
ReplyDeleteConsidering the timing of it, perhaps it is also a reminder that not everything is solved with F35s.
ReplyDeleteI had not idea that the CTAI 40mm cannon was fully ready to be fitted on production versions of this vehicle
ReplyDeleteThere was a previous post here by Solomon where he asked what would be the perfect Expeditionary Vehicle. Most sided with the CV90 which this Scout displaced as the UK platform of choice.
ReplyDeleteThis was done knowing full well that CV90 and almost all its varients including the 120mm gun version are already fully developed and on the ground functioning products.
