Thanks for the link William...
I read the stories about the fierce female fighters of the YPG....I heard people talk about how ISIS was scared shit-less to face these females.
And I knew it was all bullshit.
Now the poster girl for women in combat has been beheaded (if she was lucky all they did was behead her). Check this out from 9 News.
A prominent female Kurdish "freedom fighter" may have been executed by beheading, according to unconfirmed reports on social media.Notice that no one is talking about the circumstances of her capture?
The young woman, who went by the nom du guerre "Rehana" became a symbol of the Kurdish resistance movement when pro-Kurdish journalist Pawan Durani tweeted a picture of her giving a peace sign.
"Rehana has killed more than 100 ISIS terrorists in Kobane," his tweet read.
There has been no independent verification of the claim, but the photo went viral, receiving more than 5000 retweets.
Female Kurdish fighters of the Yekineyen Parastina Jin (YPJ), or Women Protection Units are involved in the struggle for the key Syrian border town of Kobane.
The town of Kobane has become a crucial battleground in the war against ISIL, representing the gateway to northern Syria and the Turkish border.
This brave and unique force of women are highly trained, committed and fearless, in a fight that represents the survival of an entire people.
They believe that in their fight there is no difference between a man and a woman, but are aware they fight an enemy that routinely rapes the women it captures before butchering them or selling them into slavery.
Now there is speculation that Rehana has been captured or killed, with gruesome photos purporting to show her decapitated body circulating on social media. But the death is unconfirmed.
I won't dig deeper into her capture and murder but I will add a cautionary note. All these older females that are trying to "open" doors for their daughters...and yours, to join the infantry are FOOLS.
Women in the infantry is a bad idea. Rehana died because she was young, bought the hype, was an image for a cause and was in the end hung out to dry.
If I had a daughter I wouldn't let her within 5000nm of a warzone and would worry about her going shopping. What kind of people would want to put their mothers, daughters and sisters in that meat grinder? I might be borderline sexist but proponents of this idea are plain sick.
Solomon they are really important against IS morale, they believe that if they get killed by a woman they don't get the afterlife prizes (Virgins, paradise, etc.. etc.. ) as if they would get killed by a bullet fired by a male peshmerga.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iraq/11110724/Isil-fanatics-fear-being-killed-by-a-woman-will-deprive-them-of-virgins-in-paradise.html
sometimes "morale" takes a back seat to being moral. we can play all the cute games we want in our 'modern' societies but their is still a prohibition about hitting females. both in the law and in social acceptance. yet somehow we're twisted enough to insist that our men don't hit females and then want to put females on the frontlines in a physically demanding environment?
Deleteon its face it doesn't make sense.
but even more important than that, we're looking at societal change that will in the end be destructive to women and they don't even know it yet.
women in the infantry? women in combat? ok. then i guess you think that female prison guards don't get serious assistance from male members! you think that a female prison guard can take on a male prisoner that works out all day! no way possible. it weakens the staff and everyone knows it. same will apply to the USMC. women in the infantry will get themselves and their units slaughtered. all so that we can be politically correct.
I didn't defend women on the frontline, i was just defending this particular case where the benefits are greater than the prejudice of them being in the frontline.
Deletethere is no benefit to having women on the frontlines. i guess i'm such a caveman that i just don't see ANY way that helps. what it does is put the people that were once the moderating voices and in many ways HUMANIZING part of our society in danger.
Deletewhy would any man step up to defend a woman if they're combat soldiers? this isn't just change, this is society altering. you think the Marine Corps is having recruiting problems now? wait till women are allowed in the infantry. the wheels will come off.
I agree Sol,
DeleteIt's not about political correctness. It's about what's effective in combat. Females make great fighter pilots, logistics, etc. Those jobs are just as important as those on the front line.
In fact I got a female friend who graduated engineering school with me this year, she's down in Oceana getting her wings.(She was in Naval Corp of Cadets at VA Tech and majored in Aerospace Engineering) Smart chick, she wants to fly the Super Hornet. I say more power to her if she can meet the reqs.
I understand being a fighter pilot is different that being on the front line, and you're right about the juxtaposed logic in "You men can't hit women." and "Women are powerless(in the eyes of the law) against men." while arguing that "Women are strong enough(physically) to endure combat on the front line."
I also like your point about moderation and humanization, you should expound on that point.
The Israelis and some other countries do it...albeit a little differently. I don't think we should do it just for the sake of doing it... It should have some purpose or benefit.
Then what better purpose than negating their soldiers what they believe is their biggest achievement(becoming a martyr and an "amazing" after life)?
DeleteBullshit, they don't believe that crap anymore than we do.
DeleteThat's their vehicle, religion else they would have to invent a religion and use it to recruit the stupids who die in these wars for a God figure.
You don't see Mullah's and Imam's out there dying do you?
The Israeli's do not use women and girls in front line infantry combat units as Infantry.
DeleteThe concept and execution are epicly stupid.
ReplyDeleteBut if they got her, I hope she took a pile of the SOBs with her before she went. No one should die alone like that.
Some militant is smiling while holding up two fingers on one hand and a woman's head (that looks similar to her) in the other. All those bastards were probably falling over themselves, to get at her after the Press blew her up.
ReplyDeleteThe news put a target on her, may as well have done it themselves. Just what the hell does one have to do to be a "journalist" these days anyhow, clearly there's no moral considerations, and apparently no academic ones either, does the 9 News dumbfuck really not know that V is for victory? Not peace?
DeleteIt will not be the daughters nor son's of these liberal progs who serve and die.
ReplyDeleteThose are our son's and daughter's.
They see Military service as just a place for potential terrorist and criminals to be kept before jail or some useless menial job.
Its not about morale, Sol. Its about being outnumbered, and accepting anyone who can pick up a rifle and shoot. Women might not be ideal for infantry(although, to be entirely honest, in rare cases, I've met some who really are), but its better than not enough infantry. The real truth is, Kurds lack in firepower, so they compensate by throwing more meat into the grinder. Also, I doubt that many Kurdish male fighters would be on par with what one can call a proper combat infantry. They have the spirit, and some combat experience, but YPG/YPJ/Pesh are not exactly USMC quality. So, compared to the average level, these girls are not that bad.
ReplyDeleteI understand your moral issues with this. Honestly, I have them too. But lets be fair here, if they stay behind, and their men loose, then these girls are dead regardless. Worse than dead, if you been following how ISIS treating Yezidi girls it has captured. So, might throw everyone into a fight, maybe it will be just enough to stop the enemy.
anyone know how this girl get captured and beheaded ? this girl fought at the front line ? i assume the kurds need manpower thats why they forced to use women as foot soldier..
ReplyDeletehow good is the infantry skill of ISIS ? they keep defeating everyone in the region ... i predict these fanatical soldiers will be a formidable foe even to Western / NATO soldier , assuming they dared to send boots on the ground against them..
In the best case they just beheaded her corpse.
ReplyDeleteWomen in the infantry doesn't make much sense if you have only a limited number of slots for much more potential canditates but its a completely different matter if it increases the total number of troops and does not reduce the number of men in arms.
Then again its affected by several factors like culture and how the evacuation chain has been arranged.
And in this case some of the women face the choice between fleeing abandoning their homes, slavery and fighting.
i hope they dont capture her alive and subject her to horrible fate that usually happened to females in lawless combat zone..
ReplyDeleteMy humanity hopes her death was quick and soldierly, without the sort of barbarism common among this ilk, although perhaps i am being too optimistic.
ReplyDeleteA combination of media circus "see women can be infantrymen too!" and feelgood social justice warrior garbage is what leads to situations like this. This is when the SJWs have a nice tall glass of STFU. War is ugly and a soldier's life on the battlefield is, as Thomas Hobbes would put it, "no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death: and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short"
My condolences and gratefulness that she had the balls to pick up a rifle and fight pieces of human garbage like ISIS. The Peshmerga are doing what other cowardly nations are too afraid to do, out of necessity albeit, although that is more than i can say about the NATO-member, European Union member-wannabe utter joke that is Turkey. Or those fat and happy cowards in Saudi Arabia that want others to do the heavy lifting for them. A plague on both their houses.
well said.
Deleteisnt turkey behaving like they rather hace the ISIS destroyed the kurd's resistance in kobane ? and why in the heck turkish hospitals near syrian border accept wounded ISIS soldiers.. as For Saudi and Qatar, didnt they funded ISIS (or at least at the beginning) ? would be rather funny if ISIS turned on its benefactor later..
DeleteMy theory is that Turkey is trying to appease everybody without empowering and benefitting the kurds, their traditional advesaries. They are trying to appear "westernized" to appeal to their inclusion fantasies into the "civilized-utopia" that is supposedly Europe, without pissing off ISIS too much so they dont have to clean up those pieces of shit from the bottom of their shoes.
DeleteWhen it comes down to it, Turkey can mobilize a mechanized brigade with air support and utterly stomp the shit out of ISIS. They wont, because they know that it will give kurds funny ideas like "self determination" and more independence, which they have been trying to keep contained for decades.
Like I said before, Turkey is on my shitlist right now because of this debacle.
