A Marine Corps Recruiter let one get away...via Marine Historical Society.

This is just filled with awesomeness....and a few less stripes for the person who did this!

John, This is absolutely REAL. It was written personally by RWR and delivered to me by Ed Hickey, the Director of the White House Military Office. I had both letters framed and they hung outside my office. I took it with me when I retired and several years ago gave both originals to MG Chris Cox, the head of USMC recruiting. As far as I know it still hangs in his old office on Quantico. On November 7 last I was the GOH at Eureka College, RWR’s Alma Mater. I presented them with a copy---and they were delighted. No one had ever seen it. There is another letter that has surfaced---sent by RWR to Lance Corporal Hickey, Ed’s son who was on his way to Lebanon. This is the one that says: “Some people live a lifetime and never know what they have accomplished. Marines don’t have that problem.” Hope this cleans the air. P.S. I was the Guest Speaker at RWR’s 95th birthday at Simi. Hope this is of some help. S/F and V/R P.X.
