Check this out from Jerusalem Online.
The autopsy of the Palestinian minister who died yesterday during a demonstration does not resolve the dispute between the Palestinian Authority and Israel regarding the cause of death - although Israeli officials have admitted that conflict with the Border Police officer may have led to his death. No matter how you slice it this is unwanted in Israel. They're undergoing a change in government, they just conducted a highly successful but extremely risky airstrike in Syria and now this.
Medical sources in Israel are aware of the details of the investigation of the joint autopsy that showed that senior Palestinian official Ziad Abu Ein died of a heart attack. However, the source added that it is quite possible the heart attack was caused by stress due to the fact that he was held and dragged by the neck by a border policeman.
I expect more fighting to erupt there and perhaps another Protective Edge 2 military operation.
Dragging anyone around by the neck is just plain wrong. Being a Israeli Border Policeman and doing it to a Palestinian official is just plain stupid. Oh and that's coming from a guy that does not sympathize with the Palestinians.
yes it is wrong, would be good to know how many times they told him to leave before getting heavy handed on him. The Palestinians probably were out to milk that thing anyway from PR angle. The fact that there's now a senior official dead without any good reason for it makes it only worse.
ReplyDeleteNot expecting any PE 2, unless there's a major uproar in the aftermath of this. But consider that this is a Fatah official from the West Bank, who has nothing to do with Hamas in Gaza. Now Hamas might want to take adavantage and get their followers going, but there's not much love left between them and Fatah, so hope for the best.
Magav units are exposed to lot of shit on daily basis, but it is their job and they should know better. dragging someone away from an area he's not supposed to be, is not however tantamount to excessive force.
And just so everyone can have an idea of the level of force used by police:

Let's not forget that the dead POS is not only a professional agitator; but a convicted terrorist who was sentenced to life after murdering two Israeli teens in a bombing. He was released as part of the Ahmed Jibril swap. Another shining example of how well releasing terrorists works.

ReplyDeleteSTRESS!
ReplyDelete"Is the confusion created when one's mind over rides the bodies basic desire to choke the living shit out of some asshole who desperately deserves it."
Never react to stress while in front of a camera, while on riot control detail.
He should have kissed the clown on each cheek and gave him a sloppy one on the mouth.
nailed it! but that's also whats so surprising about this. Border Police hold themselves up as an elite status unit. i've even heard that they train to standards that make riot control look easy. you know that they knew that cameras were there so that makes it even more puzzling why the guy would get caught doing something like this.
DeleteIf the official had a heart condition and considering the way he got all heated up in the verbal exchange he might have gotten a heart attack anyway. But he wasn't choked he wasn't strangled and he wasn't beaten. He was pushed/shoved back by one officer who gripped him in the throat area after the official had shown signs of physical aggression towards police. Thats what it os all about a 2 second long grip round The neck ... It was an overreaction maybe stress induced, mauve induced but some training techniques. Military krav maga techniques are not always suitable for crowd control, possibly therein lies the mistake.
DeleteIls a big mess anyway and a PR win for extremists ... Nobody has wondered yet why a senior cabinet minister is taking part in illegal demonstration ?!
As for border police they have some real high speed units, real good at crowd control, CT and snatch and grab ops, but the bulk of these forces are border and riot police .... In this case it's one of those shit happens always when it shouldn't moments. And I'm not welcoming the death of this mean despite his less than savory pedigree !

ReplyDeleteI've sent to you some info with photos about presumable using AA systems against IDF's rockets in Syria.
i read this and i remember reading about US police training by israeli.. now i wonder if the so called israeli policing doctrine also influence the current US police doctrine , i mean all those violence and shoot first thing, which is pretty understandable if used in israel (despicable but understandable considering the threat there) , will these israeli techniques filter down to US police too ?
ReplyDeletenext time the US police will emulate the israeli's wall to prevent crime, by walling off ghettos and crime areas..
i hope not
Israel is waiting for US to getting stuck in Ukraine/Iran/Somewhere and then solve arab problem permanently. Like sending them all out to neighbouring arab states, or implementing ex South African bantustanes solution.
