Good grief. Stryker can't even get on to a C-17 with its Mel Gibson Road-Warrior cage in-tact. Unfortunate. We need a new family of AFVs to replace M-1, Brad and Stryker. This really is not hard to do and....worth it.

ReplyDeletethe 4th Brigade located in Alaska is Airborne so i would have thought they would have the Rapid Deployment or new age "Contingency Response" mission. looks like the Army is gonna try it with Strykers and C-17's. the C-17's i can see but Strykers? i just can't see it.
ReplyDeletecorrection. further research shows that the 4th brigade might have 25th in their name but they don't fall under the division (WEIRD ARMY BULLSHIT!!!!!) supposedly it falls under US Army Alaska so maybe it an independent Brigade and a Theater asset.

Each Combatant Command has contingency response forces with tiered authorities for initiation; for PACOM this includes elements tasked for the Global Response Force, Army Contingency Response Force and Homeland Defense Support [all Army heavy, primarily 2nd and 25th ID]; this is in addition to the FAST, Alert Contingency MAGTF and the CRF/CRE.
ReplyDelete25th has worked it's Strykers into Pacific Pathways, so I'm not surprised that they're part of an alert package.
As I recall reading, the stryker was originally designed for stuff like this. Could be wrong or misread, but I seriously could of sworn that was the reasoning behind the stryker's development.

Well Like Opra at a All you can eat Buffet Stryker picked up weight fast once the conflict in Iraq started with IED's. C130 is a good specialist and light transport but for air mobility we need to either prime use C17's or get a A400M class lifter
