Two U.S. Navy warships moved into new positions in the Red Sea late Monday to be ready to evacuate Americans from the US embassy in Yemen if an order comes to do so, CNN has learned.FUCKING THANK YOU!!!!
So far, there has been no decision to evacuate the embassy. The USS Iwo Jima and the USS Fort McHenry were moved "because they will be in the best position if asked," by the State Department to evacuate the embassy, a U.S. official with direct knowledge of the planning tells CNN. So far there has been decision to evacuate the embassy, and no request from the State Department for military assistance.
If an evacuation is ordered, the first option would be to have embassy personnel drive to the commercial airport in Sanaa and fly out, the official said. But in the wake of an embassy car being fired Tuesday, the safety of the roads in the capital is now being constantly evaluated, the official said. If embassy workers did drive to the airport it is likely some sort of air cover would be provided, under the current plan.
Other detailed military planning for various options has been finalized, the official said. Those options would be used if a request for military assistance were made.
If helicopters and V-22 aircraft from the ships are sent to Sanaa, it would be a complex operation that could last for several days to fully evacuate "several hundred Americans" from the embassy, the official cautioned. "Nobody should think this would be easy."
The idea of having to evacuate an embassy is bad news. The fact that planners are using a Marine Expeditionary Unit and NOT a SPMAGTF-CR indicates that this is serious.
SPMAGTF-CR failed its first real test. When the possibility of shots being fired finally happened it was sat on the bench and the first team sent in...the MEU.
Air cover for the drive to the airport -- let's hope that it works. In Yemen, it's the Houthis vs. al Qaeda, and neither side favors the U.S. So it's just as well the Americans leave sooner rather than later.

I agree. And did you happen to see the photo of that jack-knifed semi in Philly with the 54 other vehicles stacked up behind (and in) it? They probably don't have any semi's in Yemen, but ....still.

Deletei say go into your local police force. sheriff's, pd's and state police are quasi military organizations, they're looking for good people and you will learn many of the same things. you go National Guard you're going to see yourself federalized, and being used in the same way that the regular forces are.
DeleteTheRequimen depending on where you live or get hired in local law enforcement you could get decent free training and never forget weapons, ammo, weapons training, body armor, and a whole list of other things are write offs on your taxes. Every state has their own homeland security funded training, but look up preparingtexas.org, alerrt.org, and fletc.org for the different types of free training that's out there.

yeah i have an issue with militarized police and what i think are bad shootings but i'm really getting sour on these groups. Cop Block is out of their fucking minds and the Ferguson protesters are meeting with fucking terrorists.

By the way, there have been no casualties, which is what the Pentagon calls deaths, reported since December 4, two soldiers by IED in Afghanistan.

--Operation Enduring Freedom – Trans Sahara (OEF-TS) in North Africa
--Operation Enduring Freedom – Caribbean and Central America (OEF-CCA)
also some other operations:
--Atlantic Resolve (with NATO in Europe)
--Freedom’s Sentinel (with NATO's Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan)
--Inherent Resolve (against ISIS)
--Martillo (Hammer) targeting illicit drug trafficking in coastal waters along the Central American isthmus
--United Assistance, against Ebola in West Africa
For whatever it's worth, CR teams could have already landed, you simply don't know that. And as such, they could be helping plan a grand covert egress, or simply be there to fortify until an effective MEU force arrives (if necessary). That said, Marines should have special S-60 type rotary in their inventory for such evacuation contingencies. In my opinion at least. The should also have a detachment of modified Super Tucano aircraft, capable of LHD/LHA operations, to provide air cover for any such contingency too.
