Is it just me or does this Russian tracked vehicle have an almost impressive amount of ground clearance? Is this by accident or design to enhance IED protection. |

In the period of Jan. 17-22, 18 Ukrainian military servicemen were killed and 235 others injured in armed clashes with militants in the Donetsk and Luhansk, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service reported on Jan. 24.
"Also one tank, seven armored fighting vehicles, two MT-12 cannons, and seven automobiles have been lost," it said.
As many as "600 militants and Russian military men were killed and 275 wounded" within the same period of time, it said. The final figure could be bigger, as militants managed to take some wounded persons with them.
"Thanks to decisive and professional actions of Ukrainian military men, 14 tanks, 43 armored fighting vehicles, 14 Grad and Uragan multiple rocket launchers, 28 self-propelled artillery weapons and 19 automobiles were destroyed," the ministry said.
The ministry said that only at Donetsk airport 85 militants were killed and 53 were wounded, seven tanks, 12 armored fighting vehicles, nine automobiles and MT-12 cannon were destroyed.
The fighting at the airport and reports of clashes at other locations makes me wonder if these figures might be on the low side.
Russians did take heavy losses attacking the airport... but, I think Ukrainians are exaggerate. Russians are pushing in couple of places now, restart fighting near Mariupol (to announce that they put an rocket salvo in the market full of civilians, bloodbath) so losses can rise on their side. Near the Donetsk seppos column run in to or try to attack Ukrainian position and they lost some equipment, some 10 KIA and more WIA and it's look like also a tank:

WARNING: there is a blood and death there.
I post that already but just to remind, Russia put TOS-1 in the field, loss of life in infantry units will be higher.
Delete@Russia put TOS-1@
DeleteI see no reason in it. Very noticeable and specific weapon, and I’m sure there us a lot of another new toys, our military desire to prove in the real deal.
TOS – is technically and tactically (in the 2nd Checen’s war specially) completed wepon.
By-the-way, do you know that TOS-1 is used by a special combat arm in Russia, on slang “himiki” (chemists)?
0_0... I mean TOR-M1M and I think TOS-1 and write it... Jesus I need to get some nap, got a night job and this is what happen, I'm sorry lad.

Thanx for vid a lot, pan. Something new.
DeleteRefreshing to hear Shas say Ukrainians are exaggerating .
DeleteBoth sides exaggerate, more or less... when you read that in the kill number is rather huge, and the level of fighting are not that "big" you know they exaggerate. That's normal in every conflict, in the World War every kill from fighter pilot was divide in most cases by 3. They say 30 kills... they will be lucky if 10 are there. But don't you think that... when seppos say "we can take airfield in 30 min if we want to" and they they can't do this by 242 days, they don't exaggerate?
Deletebecause ukraine goverment have been saying nonsense since the beginning.. and for this pole to continuously support the ukraine narrative would exposed him as an ukraine troll or russia hater..
DeleteYou still don't obey my command boy?
DeleteGO outside and CHECK if you are not there.
Info' another toy in testing in the same city... of course, from hunters shop.

Not sure it is Ukraine. No need - AA systems can stay near the border and do their job.
DeleteThat's a short range system, don't have the range to do this outside the border.
DeleteI mean another AA systems, pan.
DeleteTOR-M1M? Also short range AA.

ReplyDeleteVid of today’s Mariupol’ under artillery attack.
This is a good channel, lot's of vid's of that conflict on both sides.
DeleteVery interesting to me that despite the collapse in the Russian currency and economy Putin is still pushing full steam ahead with taking over these two provinces.
ReplyDelete@despite the collapse in the Russian currency and economy@
DeleteWe have no collapse by now – problems, yes, but even not a crisis. But (IMHO) future crisis is inevitable, and collapse-meltdown is possible.
@taking over these two provinces.@
Capturing this provinces under direct RF’s rule – obviously out of today agenda, at my take. Bloody war is needed by all parts of the conflict, no one is interesting in peace and recovering the region.
countries and nations survived currency devaluation even worse than the russian today... as a person who lived thru the worst devaluations of currency in asian 1998, i think russia's economic problems today are overly hyped by western mass media, to show how the russian suffered etc etc... no such thing happened in my country at the WAY worse devaluation 1998..
Deleteonly fools and misinformed would believed that russian economy have been broken and in tatters...
Offtopic:
ReplyDeletevery interesting, at my take, Ukrainian variant of GAZ-66 mod (because of my service I have personal sympathy to GAZ-66, “shishiga” as we call it).

@As many as "600 militants and Russian military men were killed and 275 wounded"@
ReplyDeleteBgggg.
It reminds me Donbass campaign-2014, when hundreds of Ukrainians military and paramilitary were killed each day, corpses of some hang on wires and trees, but Ukrainian MoD was in official “no loses” mod.
For me greatly more interesting where real Ukrainian brigade commander Mikac is. Not a lt. colonel Kus’minyh, who pretend to be Mikac, but true brigade commander. If he is captured by rebels – it would be great luck.
Both sides are on disinformation and propaganda mode to further their respective interests, friend. Yes, clearly Ukraine wishes to defend their perceived sovereign boundaries and nation-state. True, Kremlin-backed separatists fight to separate at any cost. One could ask though, how would Ru Fed indeed respond, if militant separatists were taking over police stations and municipal buildings and fighting for separation??
DeleteAs for the actual 'quote' above goes, it was probably '60' militants killed... '600' being a typo. Bggg.
But please, yes, let all sides cool their jets. Call on the militant separatist agenda (since Putin's infamous March 2014 speech) to once again cease offensive operations and call for a political solution to begin.
@call for a political solution to begin.@
DeleteYou are talking now! I guess the most compromise solution would be retreating Ukrainian forces on administrative borders of Lugansk’s and Donetsk’s regions, recognition DPA and LPA as ruling authorities (by fact, not obliged on official level) here and organizing economical cooperation between DPA/LPA and other Ukrainian regions (at first in terms of coal supply).
Regards.

ReplyDeleteEspecially in favor of the side who lost the airport
Ukraine is a habitual liar at this point. That, or they are in full denial mode.
ReplyDeletei guess ukraine army's stupidity make the defeat of georgian soldiers trained by american and israeli looked like a glorious victory..
ReplyDeleteFunny how Russia hasnt openly taken the fields since the Georgians stonewalled them....
