Shas, perhaps in a few years we will have helmets like that but with a augmented reality glasses, just look what Microsoft is planing and this kinda thing might not take long to be created.
Wrong, you have no idea how many problems they have to even have ANY helmets, huge numbers of them were purchase in Poland from Maskpol including tac and bulletproof vests. If they can manufacture own helmets that's more then good, and they need them NOW.
(I imagine the conversation was something like the SgtMaj of the Marine Corps calling out whatever the senior NCO of the AF is called, for a man to man behind the woodshed. AF probably declined, unless he was a PJ or CCT or some such.)
Full face helmets are being looked into seriously by the US, UK Danish armed forces and beyond. Models from Ops core, Revision Crye Precision, MTek, Ceradyne and more are being picked up because of the threats faced in modern battle. particularly in urban and Asymmetric battle This Ukrainian unit is definitely lacking when compared to new western units. but the Claims on that web site are totally bogus. barely a passing resemblance to any storm trooper or Fritz helmet, And as to readiness for hiding faces The "Green men" and Rebels as well as loyalist forces pretty much all wear Balaklava.
This Helmet has a big pre-requisite before it can be used....especially with those ballistic panels for your jaw and face. And that is a communication device inside the helmet for each and every soldier who is using those Ballistic panels. It wont work if the commands have to shouted out.
As you probably know until the new training methods in the Vietnamwar era a minority of combat soldiers actually shot to kill, or even aimed at all. It takes a normal, untrained human quite a bit to actually shoot at an other human being. I do stress 'normal'.. For that reason it seems fully enclosed inhuman looking helmets lead to a soldier being shot at faster, with less hesitation. All this paraphrasing a study I read about. Wile it seems to me this study is reasonable I do not know if its still relevant and the extra protection could very well out way all this.
An other point often made is the need to look less intimidating in certain scenarios, mainly when dealing with civilians. Since an enclosed helmet can be opened up this will require good instructions.
Last point, Sarabvir is right communication can easily get hampered, but wile good old handsignals can help a lot with that there also is situational awareness. It is not without reason that several military helmet designs ( especially those for special forces) leave the ears open, or at least not fully enclosed.
The thing that got me thinking was that those panels are made from layer upon layer of interlocking/interwoven polysomething fibre. Stuff like that absorbs and traps noise and voice quiet easily. Hearing and speaking will be greatly aided when fully buttoned up by the presence of a communication device. Off course how one hears enemy footsteps is beyond me.....so SF might not get fully buttoned up with all those ballistic panels and comm. device earpieces especially on a raid.
It's called the G56 It's the Creation of a digital artist Infact the whole concept thing his his work it's a Chimera Concept weapon, Stock of ACR, Rails and barrel of XCR, Receiver of KRISS

ya know all the services seem to be in flux. the Air Force is trying to get into the field more and putting guys on the ground with guns...the USMC is trying to dabble in Cyber Space...the Army is trying to do it all....
this video is an example of everyone wanting to do and be everything instead of sticking to core competencies. the USAF once took SERIOUS pride in being the smartest service AND having the best looking chicks...maybe they should just go back to that.
oh and tell your son well good job and stay safe and you get a well done for raising a fine citizen!
Looks similar to the VIRTUS system soon to be adopted by the British military.

Not sure if it's the Revision Batlskin Cobra or a very similar looking domestic product.
That is pretty good... in conflict where shrapnel's fly all over the places it is very good idea to have something that will protect your face.

ReplyDeleteFully closed helmet, probably in near future we will see first ones. Maybe in this form:

Last thing they need is a new helmet...

ReplyDeleteOnly weeks!? Those Marines were not in form!
ReplyDeleteI would not want to try and fight with that. It looks cool but I would imagine it will be hot as hell and difficult to breath in.
ReplyDeleteYeah, something pretty similar to that.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the campaign hat?

Yeah, have fun getting a cheek weld with that on.
ReplyDeleteStill not as cool as this ops core prototype...

ReplyDeleteYep, same nick as here... not too much work, some couple of old pixel arts I do.
ReplyDeleteSo maybe something like that, more realistic.
ReplyDeletehmm, lets check out Galvars on deviant art.
ReplyDeletehah.....what kind of a Super Polish rifle is that ?
ReplyDeleteNah that's American, you see stars & stripes on helmet?
ReplyDeleteBut riffle look's good, a little SCAR here, a little Kriss there, some generic butt...
A few little side points on this subject:

Try to run with that helmet on a hot day
