A show of force in S. Korea after the North detonates a nuke....photos by Airman 1st Class Dillian Bamman

A United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress from Andersen Air Base Guam, conducted a low-level flight in the vicinity of Osan, South Korea, in response to recent provocative action by North Korea Jan 10. The B-52 was joined by a ROK F-15K Slam Eagle and a U.S. F-16 Fighting Falcon. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Dillian Bamman/Released)

This is less than impressive.

The trouble isn't the tools, rather its the men that wield them.  I don't believe it.  Neither do the S. Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Australians, Singaporeans...no one believes that this means a thing.

So what happens when you do a demonstration of power but no one believes that you have the fortitude to actually follow thru?

You're seen as posturing for the cameras by those that know better(note that these pics were released by Pacific Command).  The American public might drink this in as being a forceful show of power, but they'll be alone in that thinking.

Sidenote:  Even as a demonstration mission, isn't it a little late?  If this was done right after the detonation or a day/2 later then it might have been attention grabbing, but this late?
