French studying putting MLRS on their amphibs to augment Naval Guns!

Thanks to MicMac80 for the link!

It was ten years ago, it was envisaged to provide the multi-mission frigates (FREMM) a system capable of firing guided rockets explosive charge (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System or GMLRS) to increase their firepower in case an action to earth (AVT). Finally, it did not happen ...
But ideas will lose only very rarely. So last September, and according to a contract awardnotice, they heard that a contract in the amount of 333,330 euros had been entrusted by the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) to Airbus Defence & Space to study the possibility of adapting the fire control unit of a Rocket Launcher (LRU) on a building projection and command (BPC) for the French Navy.
This makes nothing but sense.  It should be simple to bolt on a MLRS module to a portion of the deck.  Reloading MIGHT be an issue, but the benefits outweigh the negatives (of course future version might penetrate the deck if this proves as good as I think it is to make reloading faster).
