How many lumens do you need for an EDC light?

I don't know how many of you are into EDC (everyday carry) gear, but if you are then you know that the tiny S1 Baton has been the "hotness" since it was introduced last year.  500 lumens coming out of a flashlight that small (less than 3 inches long)?  Truly awesome.



Personally I thought we had reached the apex of flashlight design.  Small, powerful and its all encased in an aluminum water resistant (proof down to 6 feet I believe) case?  It just doesn't get better right?  Wrong.  Let me introduce you to the latest from Sunwayman, the C23C...

It puts out an almost magical 1000 lumens!

Which leads me to my question.  How many lumens do you actually need for a good EDC flashlight (torch to the Limey's in the crowd).
