ISIS kills 57 Syrian troops in Deir Ez-Zor...is this a counter offensive?

via Fulton News Group
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria – Fifty-seven Syrian regime troops were killed Monday in a Daesh attack on the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, sources told Anadolu Agency.
The sources said that Daesh captured scores of Assad regime forces and seized a missile unit, three tanks and four armored vehicles during the assault.
According to the sources, Daesh also targeted the Deir ez-Zor military airbase, destroying two tanks and three armored vehicles.
The city of Deir ez-Zor, the provincial capital of Deir ez-Zor province, has been besieged by Daesh for many months.
This sounds like at least a minor counter offensive.  In reality it should have been expected.  The attack on the finance center by US forces would spark a reaction and coordination between the US and Russia in this fight would see better results quicker.
