State-run Chinese media is claiming that the People’s Liberation Army has been able to track the U.S. Air Force’s Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor stealth fighters over the East China Sea. While the Chinese report might be easily dismissed as propaganda—it is not beyond the realm of possibility. In fact—it’s very possible that China can track the Raptor. Stealth is not a cloak of invisibility, after all. Stealth technology simply delays detection and trackingRead the entire article here. Quite honestly its a meandering back and forth between reasoning why the F-22's were detected and then pointing out how the stealth advantage is being chipped away by friend and foe alike.
The facts are clear.
Stealth fanboys are hanging their hats on the F-35 being stealthy and because of that, it'll be unbeatable in the air. They've tossed aside sensor fusion because everyone now knows that its sensors are a generation plus behind. They're thrown away speed, maneuverability and operating height because the plane is substantially inferior to what's been flying for twenty years.
They've hung the fate of our nation's air power on stealth and didn't have the commonsense to realize that everyone and their mothers would be working to defeat it (including us now).
The F-35 is a tremendous waste of money. We should be working on improving our missiles, next gen lasers, advanced electronic warfare and improved engines ....the days of stealth by shaping/absorption/ and maybe deflection is long over.
