Gun Owners & Tannerite

Thanks to James, Joe and everyone else that sent links to this story.

via Mashable.
"Yes, it is legal and no, we can't make people stop doing it. But why, folks, just why?" the sheriff's office wrote.
On its website, Tannerite advisers shooters stay 100 to 200 yards from their target, depending on how much power is involved.
In a comment on the Facebook post, a man who said he was there at the time of the incident, said they were positioned a mere 25 feet away.
The man, the sheriff confirmed, was standing "dangerously close" to the mower "when the final gun shot round caused it to explode."

Shrapnel from the blast severed his leg below the knee. He is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Read the whole story if you haven't already.  I was hoping that this would stay in the gun community and wouldn't be picked up by main stream media.

You know what they say about wishing in one hand and....

Anyway this is bad news on several fronts.  First, I despise Tannerite. It has no real training application. Second, gun owners are our worst enemy. Watching guys blowing up trucks and barns with the stuff is just begging for it to be used in a major league terrorist attack or even a lone gunman carrying out a mass injury event (as if there is a difference).

In my opinion, widespread use and abuse of Tannerite is the opening that the gun grabbers need to attempt to roll back our rights.

Last thing.  I'm sorry the guy lost a leg, but this was an incredibly STUPID stunt.  God smiled on him.  By rights he should be dead.
