YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. Azerbaijani armed forces lost yesterday and today 14 battle tanks and more than 5 units of other armored vehicles, including an infantry-fighting vehicle, the press service of the NKR Ministry of Defense said.Everyone was commenting on this and I blew it off. I just didn't think it was that serious.
"The Karabakh army lost one tank", it said. The press service reports that the situation along the entire length of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani contact line remains tense.
"The most violent clashes are taking place in the north-eastern and south-eastern sections. The Defense Army units are inflicting heavy losses to the enemy in manpower and military equipment in the direction of Talish. According to confirmed reports, Azeri forces lost three tanks in this section.’
Defense Ministry reminds that 2 tanks and one infantry-fighting vehicle were destroyed today in the south-eastern section, where fierce battles are occurring.
"The enemy is trying to compensate for their weakness on the contact line by using Grad and 152-milimmeter artillery guns to shell civilian targets in the town of Martakert," it says.
Looks like I was wrong.
Just awesome. This is exactly what we need. Another simmering conflict that goes hot. This little "disgreement" was on my watch list but I took it off thinking that all we'd see were the occasional border clashes. Now? Now it looks like they're a hair away from full scale combat.
This is going to be a great year. ISIS will hit the West again, we have this conflict, we can expect the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to flair, N. Korea is just batshit crazy, the economy is limping along, many think we're going to hit a full scale recession later this year....and we're electing a President.
That curse about living in interesting times is real!
