Social Media used to pinpoint FSA troops and bomb them?

via Enrique 262 Tumblr Page
Allegedly using twitter and google images, they managed to pinpoint the area where a group of FSA soldiers where operating, relaying said information to a russian operative inside Syria who then ordered an airstrike on the area.
I am trying to verify this.  Does anyone have any info on it?  I'm aware of at least a couple of instances where the US used images posted on social media to locate terrorist bases but this is the first I've heard of the Russians pulling it off.

Is this move to network everyone still a good idea?  People will post photos, and other information about their units online...with the result that a competent enemy will use it to plan attacks.  This is a minor issue that might become major.
