The US Marine Corps (USMC) is having to recover Boeing F/A-18C Hornet combat aircraft from the 'boneyard' at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB) in Arizona to bridge the delayed introduction into service of the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), a Boeing official said on 10 June.General Davis needs to be fired! It is beyond obvious that he has totally mismanaged the Marine Corps aviation portfolio. How anyone can have confidence in his leadership is beyond me, but even if he is a "good man" (like everyone keeps shouting to me via e-mail) its about the job, not the man. We've seen Marine Corps leaders offered up on the sacrificial altar for MUCH LESS! How a senior leader can be allowed to continue in his position after all the public lies and poor management of aviation is beyond me.
Speaking at Boeing's Global Sustainment and Support (GS&S) site at Cecil Field in northern Florida, Bill Maxwell, senior manager F/A-18 operations, said that the USMC has contracted the company to recover 30 legacy Hornets from the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) facility at Davis-Monthan AFB to cover a projected shortfall in numbers and capability as the service transitions over to the JSF.
I thought we had combat capable F-35 squadrons! We are switching over from F-18's to F-35's so how could this happen? Could it be that the Canadian Prime Minister was spot on when he said the plane doesn't work?
This criminal program is destroying the Marine Corps budget and causing an UNGODLY amount of money to be pumped into aviation while the rest of the Marine Corps dies.
This is unsat.
I repeat. General Davis needs to go.
