Fitness Talk. The latest goofy, silly, wall punching fitness fad? Soul Cycle!

Soul Cycle (website here) is the latest "it takes a village" to get in shape.  I vacillate between being fascinated by the goofy, silliness of it to wanting to punch walls.  What do they claim?  Check this out (from their website).
Take Your Journey

At SoulCycle we believe that fitness can be joyful. We climb, we jog, we sprint, we dance, we set our intention, and we break through boundaries. The best part? We do it together, as a community.

Change Your Body

SoulCycle is indoor cycling re-invented. Forty-five minutes is all it takes to transform the way you look and feel. Get ready for fat-burning cardio, a full-body workout (we've added hand weights and core work!), and choreography to work your core.

Find Your Soul

SoulCycle doesn't just change bodies, it changes lives. With inspirational instructors, candlelight, epic spaces, and rocking music, riders can let loose, clear their heads and empower themselves with strength that lasts beyond the studio walls.
They make it sound like a religious experience.  Which is why this will last for a couple of months...maybe even a couple of years and then it will join the other "fitness" fads that have come and gone.

The reason why they will fail is because they're promising life changes without effort or sacrifice.

I'm not trying to say that pain and drudgery is part of fitness, but I am saying that its time for the fitness industry to STOP LYING to the public!

When working out you have to get into a zone where you're uncomfortable.  You have to severely restrict calories if you're obese if you're going to lose weight, you have to monitor your caloric intake if you want to maintain your weight.

It takes discipline.  It takes NOT eating stuff that you might love on a daily basis.  It takes time.  But you have to put the work in and you have to be willing to push yourself.  More importantly the 1 or 2 hours you spend in the gym is just a small part of the work.  You have to get proper sleep.  You have to get proper nutrition.  You have to be consistent.  That happens outside the gym and will need to happen outside the walls of Soul Cycle if their clients are gonna see results.

Soul Cycle will NEVER tell their people that part of the story.  Which is why people will flock to their centers, put down hard earned cash, attend for a few weeks or a month and then leave wondering what went wrong.
