Can we all relax about the Philippine Army applying wood to their vehicles?

Small Rant.

The Philippine Army is engaging terrorist and insurgents within its borders.  The fighting has been heavy, they've taken casualties and the enemy has successfully used RPGs against their vehicles.

In response, some members of the Army applied wood "pieces" to their vehicles to act as ad hoc cage armor.

Will it work?  I highly doubt it.  Those rounds will more than likely burn thru the wood straight into the armor because the spacing is so small but they're trying.

These guys are taking fire, engaging the enemy and trying to survive.

Instead of the internet giggles, we all might wonder why the rest of the Free World isn't donating better equipment sitting in depots gathering dust instead of just watching this fight take place against an enemy to us all.
