I don't know how psychological warfare works. I don't know what it takes to prep a public for war. I'm only going by feel and what I've seen in previous runups to conflict.
We were all told that N. Korea responded to Trump's words.
You bought it. I bought it.
But one thing bothered me. Why did the N. Koreans threaten Guam? Why not San Diego or Los Angeles? They have nuclear weapons (or we've been told that they do) that can reach as far as Chicago, so if they were responding to Trump's words then why not threaten a major US city?
Hold onto that thought then check this out from Fox News.
Two U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers on Saturday flew near the Korean Demilitarized Zone in a show of force just days after North Korea conducted the first successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile that can hit Alaska.Story here.
The two B-1 bombers flew 2,000 miles from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam to conduct a precision strike training exercise with South Korean fighter jets. The bombers were also joined by Japanese fighters during their flight.
The Air Force, in a statement, called the mission a "demonstration of the ironclad U.S. commitment to our allies."
The bombers, which can carry 84 500-pound bombs, fired releasing inert weapons at the Pilsung Range. The mission took 10 hours, according to the statement.
Wow. It didn't take long did it? Those mini-demonstrations of force that I thought were SO ineffective have become "no news" in most papers. This flight didn't even catch my notice till I was trying to catch up on my various feeds and I saw this happened.
My point is simple.
I think we know why Guam was listed.
From a N. Korean view (and God help me I'm trying to get into their heads) this is a measured response.
My theory is that they're not even responding to Trump but instead to these fly bys. I don't think we've heard a response to Trump yet. I think we're being spun and the news media is latching onto anything to slam Trump.
If I'm right we'll hear a response from the little fat boy soon, but this statement isn't it.
