You can despise Trump but you can't question the wisdom in this statement. The Taliban either endorsed, or couldn't prevent an attack in Kabul. Either of those two options mean that talks are unacceptable or worse, a waste of time.
The reality is that this nation is tribal and will continue to be at war. We can't fix it. It can't be moderated. We only have two options. We can either continue to participate in this violence (losing lives and treasure in the process) or we can choose to leave.
Any hope of a peaceful outcome is probably wishful thinking.
Time to extricate ourselves from this cesspool.
