I have wondered why a space command. 

This kinda settles that!

The next war will have battles in space that COULD POSSIBLY decide the outcome on the planet.

He who controls the high ground wins?  If that's the case then we must win there. The USMC becomes de-classified as a service, falls back under the Navy and Space Command separates from the Air Force and becomes a service unto itself?

Sounds about right.

Sounds how this thing is headed.  Under current planning I'd even say rightfully so.
