Stand In Forces didn't work in Ukraine. Neither did deterrence. What does that tell us about our China strategy?

It just didn't work.

NATO runs so military exercises in Europe in the name of security, stability and deterrence that it'll make your eyes bleed.

But Russia is still threatening Ukraine.

The Stand In Force in the form of Very High Readiness Brigades, exercises beyond description and pushing US Army forces forward did NOT work.

So how well do you think Stand In Forces will work in the Pacific?

The weakness of all this is the politician.  Diplomacy.  The lack of willingness to backup your own red lines.

Unless politicians get some backbone and are prepared to strike first and often, when we see threats develop then all the forward presence in the world means ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING!
