Peru's government on Thursday ordered its armed forces to supervise the country's highways for the next month, amid crippling protests nationwide over rising food and fuel prices.
The country has been beset by road blockades for over a week as anger has flared over rising costs, which have spiked since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Peru is facing its highest inflation rate in a quarter century.
President Pedro Castillo has scrambled to come with meaningful solutions. This week he declared a curfew in Lima to try to stifle dissent which thousands defied, taking to the streets in protests that turned violent.
My fear?
No one is talking about stuff like this but the most vulnerable countries are feeling it first...but WE WILL GET OUR TIME IN THE RING!
Imagine how Americans will react to 8 dollar a gallon gas. To the fact that fast food for a single person costs 20 bucks. When we see armed robberies of grocery stores not for money but for beef and produce because its no longer profitable...or in the south when you see cattle rustling come back into fashion?
Its gonna get ugly.
Its already ugly in parts of the world.
Remember you heard it here first.
Sidenote. Think about all of the above in conjunction with more covid lockdowns because the disease hits us with an unexpected wave this summer. The protests before the election might look like kids play. Ugly might not describe it.
