A CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to Heavy Marine Helicopter Training Unit 302, Marine Corps Station New River, North Carolina, flies over the Gulf of Mexico during a training exercise, Oct. 25, 2022. The CH-53E can carry a 26,000 pound light armored vehicle or 16 tons of cargo for 100 miles. The helicopter is compact enough to deploy on amphibious assault ships and has the armament, speed and agility to qualify as much more than a heavy lifter. |
