I have NEVER liked body count warfare. To say that this is the first "modern peer conflict" to see this thing reverting back to industrial age metrics is kinda stunning. One other thing has me kinda mind fucked. We're seeing almost NO attempt at maneuver warfare and this thing is sinking back into the WW1 era of attrition. Is it because of missiles? Missile strikes on ground forces and anti-air missiles to make airpower irrelevant? If so then that further explains how FD2030 is gonna fight the Chinese. Once again its not about winning against a force the Chinese send against a Marine Littoral Regiment, its just making sure to bleed them badly while being dispersed enough so that the casualties don't rank up exponentially.Russian official version regarding strike on Makiivka:
— Special Kherson Cat ππΊπ¦ (@bayraktar_1love) January 3, 2023
-officially recognized 89 Russian servicemen killed
-deputy commander of regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Bachurin killed
- 5 HIMARS, 4 RM-70 Vampire MLRS, 800 missiles for MLRS, 8 vehicles, 200 manpower, destroyed as revenge π€‘ pic.twitter.com/HFfvLSbNWq
Reminds me of the Spartan movie.
This is where we fight. This is where they die! ON THESE SHIELDS BOYS! This will be your day for all time!
Replace shields with missiles, and a certainty that no retreat will be possible (or even contemplated) and it all makes sense.
They will die in place.
