German police are calling for more weapon-free zones on trains and in inner city areas in a bid to tackle knife crime.

Interesting. No guns but now knives are the problem. The morale of the story? Humans have a capacity for violence and some will exercise it no matter what laws are put in place. Ban knives and bats will be used. Ban bats and rocks will be used. The solution is simple and stark. The tool is irrelevant. There are no excuses whether poverty, or whatever. The issue is that evil exists and people will do evil things. Those people should be locked up and separated from society. In the most grievous cases they should be executed. Victims matter too. We've reached a point where sympathy for the crimminal has destroyed the justice system.
