“I wanted to be sort of the Captain Kirk,” he said. “I didn’t want to be the passenger in the back. And I realized that the ocean is the universe. That’s where life is.”
Unfortunately, in this case he took paying passengers with him, and that is the crime on his part in my book.

If you want to take risks with your own life, or with friends who join you wittingly as a team effort? Fine.
But accepting other peoples' coin changes things entirely IMO, turning you into a provider of a service - which is why we have things like certifications, etc.
