Update from Bakhmut 6 January...this one feels "real"

This one feels like a real update. Not because they're bitching. Everyone has that right and should indulge in it freely. What gives me the feeling of authenticity is the talk of the fighting, the way that they video is made and because they're talking about the disconnect between what they need and what they're getting.

I've listened to Zelensky demanding x, y and z.  

The people on the front lines are asking for much more basic needs. They aren't asking for the high tech, whiz bang type of kit.

They're asking for relatively inexpensive gear that would make a difference in the fight they're in right now.

That might not be a big difference to you but it is to me.

Sorta like stepping away from the easy messaging, sloganeering and false patriotism surrounding issues today. I dare you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and getting hard by looking at stuff the way it is, not the way you wish it was.

Stand-in Force Exercise on Okinawa, Japan.

Maybe I've lost track of this conversation but this "Stand In Force" concept doesn't seem to be gaining ANY traction at all. Quite the opposite. The more they try to push toward the SIF, the more it appears they revert back to traditional Marine Corps tasking to give the illusion that its still the same offensively focused amphibious assault force of the past.

The tribe no longer has a say.

The usurpers/transformationalist/change for change sake crowd have gained power and this is their Corps now.

But unless they make it make sense they just won't have the support they need to make this abomination sing.

3 minute "smash" burger

Interesting. Takes less time to make a freaking burger than it does to sit in line at a fast food joint (showing my age with the "fast food joint" huh?). Fuck forever fast food. Don't know what the freaks behind the counter are doing to your stuff anyway...especially if you show up in uniform.

Imagine being on your flight and taking fire from narco-terrorists?

The reality in Mexico is stunning. I've read all kinds of military fiction about how the US would have to deploy forces there because it was turning into a failed state. I wonder if the clock is ticking closer to midnight on those theories?

Brazilian BOPE Operator after shootout with narcoguerrillas in Rio de Janeiro

*I'm watching from a distance (you should check out their Instagram page...mostly training but they go HARD!) and from my seat these are the most hardcore Law Enforcement/Para-Military Police on the planet. 

These dudes get into real deal battles constantly and they win. Check out the pic carefully. You can see so much. Bad guy down in the background. The almost euphoric release of endorphins after the fight. The relief of winning and getting another day on the planet. This pic hits hard.

* Side note.  Interesting loadout too.  No 5.56 for this guy. He's shooting 7.62 ... no sidearm/helmet (not even sure he has plates in his carrier kinda looks thin to me) either. Don't know what he has in his pack but this is a light fighter setup - max mobility & max firepower.
