Many schools in Louisiana closed because of the threat of severe weather....some didn't and this was the result...

The school district, and the parents need to take the pain on this one. How do you let a child get off a bus and then wade thru deep water like that? We have dangerous animals in this state. Alligators and cottonmouths (crazy aggressive snake if you didn't know...makes rattlesnakes look tame) come readily to mind, that could easily hurt this child. Just bad all the way around. Disgusting. As if that young one doesn't have enough to worry about living in batshit crazy New Orleans.

US donates seized weapons to Ukraine...we keep establishing norms that will bite us in the ass...

 

If we had arms from the war in Iraq/Afghanistan/Syria and we transfered them to Ukraine then I'd say ok. I still think our policy on Ukraine is jacked up but they obviously don't so fuck it. But this? I'm far from a fan of Iran. I do believe they're involved in some heinous shit. But to basically sieze an arms shipment because WE declared it illegal (if there is law backing up the seizure then correct me) and then to do this seems off. The cowboy stuff is gonna bite us. What happens if we send arms to Taiwan and China declares it illegal and suddenly they seize our stuff? Didn't we kinda set the precedent on this? Hopefully some you Sailor types can get me up to speed on the laws of the sea and explain how this isn't piracy/privateering..whatever they call it.

Don't know if anyone here is paying attention but things are getting quite sporting in southern Europe. Citizens are becoming active. As usual, the innocent (both sides) will be the real victims but I get the sense (from far away and I admit I could be wrong) that many of those nations are on the verge of some pretty intense sectarian violence.

Marine Corps Gunny says that Force Design is still too heavy. Agree or disagree its a must read.

Ya know this argument keeps popping up. At least I know I've seen this "concept" promoted dozens of times over the last 30 years. To be quite honest it sounds like US Army Rangers. Since I'm no longer active many of the folks talking about this say my opinion is worthless. Ok. But I'll tell those bastards this. Are ya'll trying to reinvent the wheel? At the end of the day it comes down to this. The USMC is first and foremost an amphibious assault force. If you are giving up that mission then YOU ARE DUPLICATING what the Army does and does very well. Light Infantry? The US Army has divisions of those. Freaking divisions! You want to do the Ranger thing? First the Rangers ain't gonna give up that mission set. Second even if you try and muscle in on it then you're gonna play second fiddle. Look at Army leadership and you'll see mostly three things. You're gonna have served in the 82nd Airborne, one of the Ranger Battalions or maybe if you're an outlier in the 101st, 3rd ID or 10th Mountain.

Why are Marine Corps thinkers demanding that the USMC be everything but America's amphibious soldiers from the sea and/or shock troops?

One of the main failings of Force Design is that its the tail attempting to wag the dog.

In the Pacific fight the Navy will be the lead service, the Air Force close behind and the Army/Marine Corps praying for what should never happen and that's a ground war in that region.

Force Design seeks to influence the sea battle.  

You can't do that from shore. 

Its not possible.

The real problem is that the Navy hasn't actually formulated a plan.  Until they do then Force Design is useless.

Despite what a certain president said, you can't lead from behind and the USMC will NOT be the lead service in the sea fight.

Is it just me or does this thing look remarkably similar to the Kongsberg RT20?

FNSS (along with BAE) have been damn good to me.  I gotta ask about this and the capabilities built in.

They're damn good engineers so I'm leaning towards the form over function on this.  I kinda think of it like the F-22.  The S. Koreans and the Turks are both building next gen fighters.  They both look more similar to the F-22 than the F-35.  In short they're looking for similar performance (or as close as that can get) so they're arriving at the same design cues.

I'll ask and see if I can get an answer.

Are you pagans done yet???

 The eclipse has passed and I'm so glad this MADE UP EXCITEMENT is over.

Ya'll do know in 2017 we had one and the only people that were "excited" by it were pagans.  School kids were looking at the damn thing on their papers as part of their science classes but NO ONE was rushing to "viewing areas".

Hate to say it but they just ran another experiment on the American people and so so so many failed.

They invented the hype on this thing.

They did an artificial stimulus to the economy based on one thing ... FOMO or fear of missing out.

Many bit on it.

An event of this type and you have people in tears?  This is the event that shows you how small we are in the universe?

False emoting to please the sun god.

Pagans rejoice.  You got a whole new flock of followers.  The crazy thing?  We're supposed to be at the height of our intellectual and scientific knowledge yet the crowd is moved just cause some freaks on TV that dance when ordered to, told you this was a big deal.

Seems like one of those recruiting officers that Zelensky has should take this youngsters place...

I blogged about this youngster getting sent to the front. I said it was a disgusting shame. I would hope someone with some juice makes a call to Ukrainians and gets this guy pulled off the line. As bad as seeing women on the frontlines (to me), this is much much worse. I hope he has a guardian angel. I hope someone in power in Ukraine has the BALLS to do the right thing.

Hope ain't high though.

Bad shit happens everyday to good people.

To be actual and factual I'm surprised and pleased to see him still alive.  I hope it stays that way.

I've killed a few sows and piglets with my AR. I think it would get the job done on this beast but I'd have to make sure I had my drum mag installed. If this is real (I believe it is) and not perspective, like most will claim when they see a big animal, then it would rival the famed HOGZILLA (every community has one) lurking near the bayou in my part of the world.

Protip.

Make sure you have a redneck friend.  They can show you some shit.  Got all the deer meat I can use till next season.  To top that I have a few that actually have pig farms (yeah I'm careful...never make a pig farmer mad...IYKYK) and TRAP wild pigs, pen them, feed them corn for a few months and then butcher them.

Long story short.

Pigs are a pest to farmers.  To those that can properly harvest them they're awesome.

Meat prices are high as hell, but nature can provide if you know/learn how to take advantage.

Sunday rant. Being an American overseas and getting kidnapped don't bring the response it once did.

 Ya know what has me spinning.

Once upon a time if you were an American and you got kidnapped overseas, you would see a full press - all of govt approach to get you home.

The CIA and FBI would be working overdrive to shake the trees. SOCOM would be spooled up and ready to stack bodies.  A USMC Marine Expeditionary Unit would be hovering offshore begging to land and get some.

Now?

We don't anymore.  To be even more blunt we can't.

We have so many people from so many war wracked nations around the globe that picked up "dual" citizenship (that needs to be a discussion one day...how the FUCK can you claim to be a citizen of two nations!) that the issue has at least in my mind become clouded.

I'm looking at the war between Hamas and Israel.

We have people from both sides claiming US citizenship as well as being citizens of the warring sides.

Even worse than all of the above?

We have enough issues at home as it is.  Now we're seeing fights from across the water affecting shit at home because of these dual citizens.

Sectarian violence has to follow at some time.

I don't know how ya'll roll but if you ain't seeing flashing warning signs then maybe you need to fix your glasses.
